Brisk walking is one exercise that can cut the risk of type 2 diabetes, a disease closely associated with obesity. But researchers wanted to know if lighter exercise, like a leisurely walk, could generate the same benefits. To find the answer, they conducted a four-year study of a group of middle-aged Japanese men who worked at sedentary jobs.
Study results showed that the more walking the men did to get to work, the lower their risk was of developing type 2 diabetes. The men who walked 21 minutes were one-quarter less likely to develop diabetes than those who walked 10 minutes or less.
Researchers believe regular walking may directly lower the risk of diabetes by improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar. Type 2 diabetes develops when the body becomes less responsive to insulin.
Results of this study suggest that even walking to work, if it’s long enough, can help prevent diabetes.

Diabetes is out of control in this Country. How to fix the problem? Start walking. Even if you have to hire someone to tie you up and pull you along for at least 21 minutes, 7 days a week. This activity along could quite possibly protect you from ever getting Diabetes.
So, if you are willing to walk 21 minutes a day, you may be able to:
- Achieve 6 fewer sick days than others.
- Prevent pre-disposition to Cancer, Heart Disease, Arthritis and Auto-immune disease.
- Keep over $500,000 of your hard earned money that you would spend if you got this disease.
I think walking is cheaper, smarter, and healthier and will help you live longer. Is there anything else to say?
